The Department of Culture, Art and Music is one of the four departments of ABILAC that engages with research into culture, art and music in all variegated dimensions, with special focus on North East India. The aim of the department is to establish the value of art, literature, music, culture and other allied approaches through documentation and interpretation.
Main thrust areas of the department:
- Documentation and preservation of Music and Dances along with research and publication in these fields.
- Studies in the Arts and Crafts of Assam (Documentation and preservation)
- Life and Culture of the various ethnic groups of Assam: studies, documentation, preservation etc.
- A series of publications on the cultural heritage of Assam (Long term)
Many of these objectives are being pursued in the form of different projects since its inception.
