Research on Literature of Assam is carried out through this Department. One of the remarkable projects carried out in this Department is the generation and publication of a six volume History of Assamese Literature. Four of these volumes are published and the other two are expected to be published soon. Apart from this History of Assamese drama and History of Assamese Translation and Translation Studies are also in the pipeline.
Translation of world classics into Assamese is one major concern of this Department. Translations from the indigenous languages into Assamese and from Assamese to indigenous languages also is done under this Department. Besides these translation from World Classics into Assamese is also a key thrust of this Department.
