It has been notified that the workshop on the Translation of Zikirs and Zaris of Ajan Pir to Indigenous languages scheduled to be held from 25th to 27th September,2025 at ABILAC has been postponed due to the prevailing situation related to the untimely and unfortunate demise of the Music maestro and the heartthrob of Assam Zubeen Garg until further notice.
Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language, Art and Culture, Assam (ABILAC) joins the people of Assam in mourning the untimely demise of the legendary musician and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg.


His passing has created an irreparable void in the musical and cultural landscape of Assam and the nation at large. A true heart-throb of Assam, Zubeen Garg’s voice, artistry, and contributions to music will continue to inspire generations to come.
We stand with the state and his countless admirers in this moment of profound loss.

Valedictory and Certificate Distribution Ceremony of 120-Hour Internship Programme at ABILAC
The Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language, Art and Culture (ABILAC), Assam, successfully concluded its 120-hour Internship Programme on 7th August 2025. The programme, which commenced on 15th July 2025, provided a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in areas such as language and linguistics, cultural tourism, dictionary making, and library management.
To mark the culmination of the programme, a Valedictory and Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized at the ABILAC Auditorium on 7th August. The event was graced by Sri Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, Kamrup, as the Chief Guest, along with other eminent dignitaries including Prof. Eeshankur Saikia (Department of Computer Science, Gauhati University), Prof. Sudeshna Bhattacharjya, Director of ABILAC, and Sri Tarinikanta Goswami, Chairman of the Executive Council, ABILAC. Dr. Karuna Kanta Kakati, (Coordinator, Internship Programme) was also present at the event.
The ceremony began with welcome remarks and was followed by the distribution of certificates to the interns who had successfully completed the programme. Each distinguished guest delivered insightful and inspiring addresses, lauding ABILAC’s pioneering efforts in initiating this internship in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
In addition to the formal proceedings, the interns presented a vibrant cultural programme, including songs and performances, adding a joyful and memorable note to the day’s celebration.
The event stood as a testament to ABILAC’s commitment to fostering academic and practical engagement among students and promoting interdisciplinary learning rooted in language, culture, and heritage.
